SHIFT Update - March 2024: Delayed Launch Date

Greetings Colleagues,

Facilities Management and the Division of Student Affairs teams have been working diligently toward the goal of launching the SHIFT project on May 31. The tremendous effort that you have put into supporting this project has been incredible and is much appreciated.

Recent testing conducted by staff revealed areas of the system in need of additional attention. After much consideration, we have determined that it is best to delay the launch of the SHIFT project. Though this is disappointing, we believe ensuring a great product at launch is more important than rushing to meet a deadline.

We are in the process of planning a new launch date and expect the revised date to align with the Workday launch in November. This will allow us to bypass the integration with our legacy systems (PHR and KFS) that would have been necessary with a spring launch. We will work quickly to share the new date as soon as possible. During the interim, we will continue to use our current work management systems.

Though the timeline for completion and the launch date have changed, all other aspects of the SHIFT project remain the same. We will continue to host our regularly scheduled meetings and call on our subject matter experts to participate in the process. We will continue testing and training with a new schedule to be shared soon.

Thank you for your support of the SHIFT project and your patience as we navigate this complicated process. Your efforts are greatly appreciated and will allow us to successfully transition to a new and improved work management system in the coming months. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to shift@umd.edu.

Sincerely,
