SHIFT Project Status - December, 2022

As we draw to the end of the year, we would like to share one final 2022 SHIFT update with you. Facilities teams from across UMD have begun the process of implementing AssetWorks as our new IWMS technology.  

In mid-November, the SHIFT project officially kicked off as teams from across our facilities organizations met with AssetWorks staff to begin implementation of the operations & maintenance (O&M) module. We spent 4 days together and saw our new technology in action. You and your colleagues asked great questions and saw the powerful tools, automations and connections available in AssetWorks. It was exciting to see what the future holds for us! 

The goal of the SHIFT project remains to support facilities operations on campus including Facilities Management, the Department of Residential Facilities, Dining Services, RecWell and Stamp. We anticipate the first phase of our implementation, including O&M, Space and Property Management and the customer service portal to go live in Summer of 2024. It still feels a long way off, but between now and then, we will be connecting with you, tapping into your expertise, and finding more efficient ways to do our work. 

Upcoming Key SHIFT Activities:

December/January:

  • AssetWorks will be reviewing our current business processes
  • We begin designing future/new processes in O&M

February/March:

  • O&M system set-up
  • Begin planning and training for the Space and Property Management module implementation

April/May: 

  • Deep dive into the new O&M work processes
  • We begin designing future/new processes in Space and Property Management
  • We begin planning, training, and designing processes for the customer service portal implementation
