SHIFT Update: August 7, 2025

Good morning,

Thank you for your continued support and engagement as we continue in full operational mode. We remain committed to addressing outstanding issues and delivering meaningful improvements. Your feedback and submitted requests are essential to this ongoing work, and we sincerely appreciate your involvement. Below is an update on the progress we’ve made, along with some key developments.

What we’ve done:

  • Provided additional SHIFT training to Residential Facilities supervisors and technicians.
  • Completed additional in-person Supervisor training on Work Management (Go).
  • Enabled access to Work Order Billing information for customers.
  • Developed decals with QR codes for residence halls.

Billing Update
We’re happy to share that our fourth billing file has been posted, and we’ve now resumed our regular billing cycle. This cycle aligns with the University’s bi-weekly pay periods and runs through the end of each pay period.

What's New:

  • Customers can now view work order transactions through Facilities Service Central.
  • Customers now have transaction summaries for a work order sent directly to customer inboxes.

Instructions for Accessing Your Work Order Billing Information:
SHIFT - Request Work Order Transaction Summaries

As we continue to refine and enhance our billing and reporting processes, please don’t hesitate to contact us at shift@umd.edu if you notice anything that seems off. We’ll work to resolve it as quickly as possible.

Campus Outreach
As part of our ongoing efforts to communicate with on-campus residents, improve service accessibility and response times, Residential Facilities staff will be installing decals with QR codes in every residence hall room on campus. These QR codes will link directly to Facilities Service Central, allowing residents to quickly and easily report maintenance or housekeeping concerns from their mobile devices.
